Soccer Game Preview: Platte County vs. Fort Osage

The Platte County Pirates are taking a road trip to face off against the Fort Osage Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Platte County is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Grain Valley just ended the team's 14-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 1-0. Considering the last time Platte County couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Fort Osage made sure to put some goals up on the board against Ruskin on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Golden Eagles. The result was nothing new for Fort Osage, who have now won eight games by three goals or more so far this season.

Fort Osage pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those four contests. As for Platte County, their loss dropped their record down to 14-2.

Everything went Platte County's way against Fort Osage in their previous matchup back in April, as Platte County made off with a 4-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
