Soccer Game Preview: Christ the King vs. Highland Tech

Christ the King has gone a perfect 3-0 against Highland Tech recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Crusaders will face off against the Rams at 6:00 p.m. Christ the King has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since September 15.

Christ the King fell victim to Lincoln Charter and their airtight defense on Wednesday. They lost 7-0 to the Eagles. While losing is never fun, Christ the King can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while Lincoln Charter are ranked 59th).

Meanwhile, Highland Tech entered their matchup against Piedmont Community Charter on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Rams fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 2-1. Reilly Spencer was hit with a yellow card, which may have had some impact on his (and the team's) ability to make aggressive plays.

Highland Tech's goal came courtesy of Ty Johnson, who's now up to 35 this season.

Highland Tech suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 17-5. As for Christ the King, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.

Everything went Christ the King's way against Highland Tech in their previous matchup back in March of 2021, as Christ the King made off with a 4-1 win. Will the Crusaders repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
