Volleyball Recap: Solon Comes Up Short

Solon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Brecksville-Broadview Heights Bees. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Comets of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Solon was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-14, 25-13.

Leading Brecksville-Broadview Heights to victory were Brooke Mihalek and Hailey Mack. Mihalek had ten digs and four aces, while Mack had 11 digs and three aces. Those four aces gave Mihalek a new career-high. Brynn Wallace also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.

Solon's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Brecksville-Broadview Heights, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Solon will square off against Medina at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Brecksville-Broadview Heights, they will challenge Revere at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
