Wray is 1-9 against Limon since October of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Eagles will head out to take on the Badgers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Friday, Wray was able to grind out a solid win over Burlington, taking the game 28-18. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won eight in a row.
Wray's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Austin Collins, who rushed for 83 yards and one TD on only six carries, and also threw for 113 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Collins really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run. Wray's leading receiver Aaron Tena was Collins' top target yet again, picking up 68 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 60 yards.
Wray didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Collins and Lance Buoy.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Limon). They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Holyoke 55-9. Given the Badgers' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado football rankings (they are ranked 46th, while the Dragons are ranked 127th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Limon's win came from a few key players Wray will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Camdyn Tacha, who picked up 70 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 83 yards and one TD on only seven carries. Drey Tacha helped out on the ground, rushing for 83 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Limon didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Holyoke to a completion percentage of just 35%. The Badgers have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.62 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.62 in their last three games.
Limon's defense didn't let Colby Weber, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Zac Carr with two.
Wray's record is now 4-2. As for Limon, their record now sits at 5-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Wray has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 184 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Limon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 257.7 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Wray against Limon when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 42-7 victory. In that contest, the Eagles amassed a halftime lead of 28-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
