The De Pere Redbirds will face off against the Pulaski Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
De Pere blew Bay Port out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Bay Port got their revenge. The Redbirds fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 5-3. The loss put an end to the Redbirds' undefeated start to the season.
Trenton Kriewaldt was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Mason Sequin, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pulaski). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Sheboygan South a 25-0 shutout on Saturday. The Red Raiders haven't had any issues with the Redwings recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Jace Olson and Braun Wotruba were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Olson tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Wotruba tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). At the plate, Olson went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Wotruba scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryce Wotruba, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob McDonald, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one triple.
Pulaski always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sheboygan South only posted an OBP of .111.
Pulaski's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for De Pere, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.
De Pere was able to grind out a solid victory over Pulaski in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 7-3. Will the Redbirds repeat their success, or do the Red Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
