Softball Recap: New Haven Bulldogs vs. Adams Central Flying Jets
New Haven had lost six straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-18 to make it seven. They fell just short of the Adams Central Flying Jets by a score of 13-12. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Flying Jets from their previous meeting back in May of 2018.
Cassidy Johnson stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Sophia Smith, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
As for Adams Central, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-11. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Adams Central's side, Izzy Isch was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Those three doubles gave Isch a new career-high. Baylee Smith also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Haven will head out to take on East Noble at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Adams Central, they will venture away from home to square off against Homestead at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Flying Jets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
