Football Recap: Manchester Extends Home Winning Streak to 11

Manchester had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against the Landstown Eagles by a score of 38-28 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Lancers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Eagles are ranked 174th).

Landen Abernethy produced another solid effort throwing for 267 yards and a pair of TDs, while also punching in one touchdown on the ground. A healthy portion of Abernethy's aerial production (80 yards to be exact) went to Jayden Ballard, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Manchester didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jeremiah Blakney and Antonio Turner Jr.

Manchester's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 47.3 points this season. As for Landstown, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-6.

Coming up, Manchester will head out on the road to take on Thomas Dale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' defense has only allowed 8.8 points per game this season, so the Lancers' offense will have their work cut out for them. Landstown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
