Basketball Game Preview: Rio Rancho Rams vs. Hobbs Eagles

Rio Rancho hasn't had much luck against Hobbs recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Rams will take on the Eagles at 2:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Rio Rancho sitting on eight straight wins and Hobbs on 19.

Rio Rancho is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They strolled past Volcano Vista with points to spare, taking the game 62-45. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly 17 points.

Meanwhile, Hobbs faced Albuquerque in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Eagles breezed past the Bulldogs to the tune of 66-38. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 20 games by 27 points or more this season.

Hobbs' victory bumped their record up to 28-2. As for Rio Rancho, their win bumped their record up to 27-4.

Rio Rancho took a serious blow against Hobbs when the teams last played back in January of 2025, falling 66-30. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
