Softball Recap: Fulton Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Fulton hadn't done well against Auburn recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Red Raiders' pitcher stepped up to hand the Maroons a 5-0 shutout. While the Red Raiders didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Auburn's batters probably weren't too happy with Emma Spaulding, who pitched a no hitter and racked up six Ks (she gave up a single walk). Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Spaulding.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rose Douglas, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Nadia Rose also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.

The win keeps Fulton at an undefeated 4-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.8 runs this season. As for Auburn, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fulton will take on Port Byron at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 11.8 runs per game this season. As for Auburn, they will face off against Jamesville-DeWitt at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
