Football Game Preview: United Longhorns vs. Alexander Bulldogs

United is 8-2 against Alexander since November of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Longhorns will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in United's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four games.

On Friday, United took their contest with ease, bagging a 42-10 win over Laredo LBJ. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won six matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

A big part of United's victory came down to the chemistry between Jorge Luna and his top target Colt Lozano. Luna threw for 264 yards and three TDs while completing 72% of his passes while Lozano picked up 154 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Lozano's receiving production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 108 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Alexander was not able to break out of their rough patch last Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 17-14 heartbreaker at the hands of Laredo LBJ. While the Bulldogs had to settle for second, they closed the game well in the third quarter, where they outscored the Wolves 7-3.

United's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Alexander, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's game: United has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 300.2 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Alexander, though, as they've been averaging only 155.4 passing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant passing game?

United came up short against Alexander in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, falling 24-14. Thankfully for the Longhorns, Jose Fernandez III (who rushed for 256 yards and a pair of scores, and also caught one touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
