Recap: Cary Academy Chargers vs. Covenant Day Lions
Even though the Cary Academy Chargers have not done well against the Covenant Day Lions recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Cary Academy secured a 49-45 W over Covenant Day. Given Cary Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Covenant Day is ranked 276th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Annalise Dematteis was her usual excellent self, shooting 6-for-11 from deep and dropping a double-double on 26 points and 10 rebounds. Sadie McMahon was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 5 assists.
Cary Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Covenant Day, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Cary Academy will be playing at home against Trinity Academy at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Covenant Day, they will head out on the road to face off against Forsyth Country Day at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
