Preview: Poteau vs. Cache
Poteau will face off against Cache in a playoff game on Friday. Both of these red-hot teams will try to put the other on ice to keep their winning streaks alive.
Poteau was the big favorite in their most recent matchup, and for good reason. They put the hurt on Cleveland with a sharp 47-20 victory. The Pirates' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Mason Barcheers, who rushed for 126 yards and two TDs on 16 carries, and Jayden Mankin, who rushed for 67 yards and two TDs on ten carries. Barcheers has now produced at least one touchdown in the past six games.
The Pirates' defense was a presence as well, and it collected four interceptions. Those interceptions were spread across their defensive unit.
Meanwhile, Cache earned some postseason bragging rights after a successful outing last week. Everything went their way against Tecumseh as they made off with a 42-20 win. The win came about thanks to a strong surge after the first quarter to overcome a 14 to nothing deficit.
