Baseball Game Preview: Seven Rivers Christian Warriors vs. Saint Francis Catholic Wolves

The Seven Rivers Christian Warriors are taking a road trip to face off against the Saint Francis Catholic Wolves at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Seven Rivers Christian has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

On Thursday, Seven Rivers Christian came up short against Sports Leadership & Management and fell 12-8. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ethan Purnell was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February.

Purnell wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Seven Rivers Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Saint Francis Catholic had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Wranglers as they made off with a 14-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Sander Williams tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, Dylan Diaz was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Liam Green was another key player, scoring three runs while going 1-for-2.

Seven Rivers Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Saint Francis Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.

Seven Rivers Christian beat Saint Francis Catholic 16-11 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Seven Rivers Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
