Baseball Game Preview: Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks vs. Lake Buena Vista Vipers

After both having extra time off, the Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks and the Lake Buena Vista Vipers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cornerstone Charter Academy has now lost nine straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 11.

Cornerstone Charter Academy came into this matchup off a tough seven-run loss last Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Aubrey Rogers by a score of 5-3 last Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Ducks have suffered since April 4, 2024.

Meanwhile, Lake Buena Vista was able to grind out a solid victory over Windermere Prep last Thursday, taking the game 7-3.

Luis Ramos was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

Lake Buena Vista's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cornerstone Charter Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lake Buena Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Cornerstone Charter Academy couldn't quite finish off Lake Buena Vista in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can Cornerstone Charter Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
