On Wednesday Sam Compton struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). The effort marked the fewest hits Compton has had since back in March. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was his ninth in a row with more than five strikeouts.
