After both having extra time off, the McClatchy Lions and the Cordova Lancers will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McClatchy will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Last Thursday, McClatchy made easy work of Antelope and carried off a 7-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.
Madelyn Ogata was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaydilyn Rogers, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayeliza Rogers, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
McClatchy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least one batters in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Cordova fell victim to West Park and their airtight pitching crew last Thursday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 20-0. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
McClatchy pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Cordova, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.
Cordova's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. McClatchy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Cordova, though, as they've been averaging only 2.9 strikeouts. Will McClatchy keep running through batters, or will the Lancers buck the trend?
Everything went McClatchy's way against Cordova in their previous meeting back in March, as McClatchy made off with a 16-0 win. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
