Basketball Recap: Mesquite Wildcats vs. Flagstaff Eagles
Mesquite gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Flagstaff Eagles by a score of 55-44. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Leading Mesquite to victory were Marcus Ward and Oliver Rogers. Ward scored 15 points along with six steals and five assists, while Rogers made all 6 shots he took racking up 17 points. The dominant performance also gave Ward a new career-high in offensive rebounds (two). Another player making a difference was Taj Deloney, who earned six points in addition to two steals.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Mesquite Wildcats duke it out with the Gilbert Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Flagstaff, they will take on Eastmark at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
