Softball Recap: Cumberland Clippers vs. Chariho Chargers

Cumberland had lost seven straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-13 to make it eight. They came up short against the Chariho Chargers, falling 9-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-1 back in April.

As for Chariho, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The result was nothing new for Chariho, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Chariho's part, Adriana Jeannenot made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Jeannenot has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Erin O'Leary was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Anna Tretton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
