Riverside Prep falls despite strong effort from Raoul Churchill

If the Riverside Prep Silver Knights were riding high off their 88-31 takedown of the University Prep Jaguars last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Riverside Prep fell 61-51 to Hesperia Christian on Friday. If Riverside Prep hoped to take revenge for the 63-52 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.

When it comes to explaining why Riverside Prep lost, one person who can't be blamed is Raoul Churchill. Despite the final result, he scored 31 points along with three steals. That was a full 60.8% of Riverside Prep's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Marrion Brown, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Hesperia Christian found their leader in underclassman Jackson Lake, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lake has scored all season. Arlan Koester was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Riverside Prep dropped their record down to 10-15 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Hesperia Christian, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Riverside Prep will be playing in front of their home fans against Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hesperia Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Academy for Academic Excellence at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Academy for Academic Excellence is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
