Softball Game Preview: Purnell Swett Rams vs. Seventy-First Falcons

Purnell Swett has gone a perfect 10-0 against Seventy-First recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Rams will host the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Purnell Swett is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.5 runs per game this season.

Purnell Swett took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out South View 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since March 5, 2024.

Jayla Graham was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lanna Haggans, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Seventy-First was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 23-0 to Cape Fear.

Seventy-First's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Purnell Swett, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.

Purnell Swett took their victory against Seventy-First when the teams last played two weeks ago by a conclusive 22-1 score. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
