Softball Recap: Tri County Area Comes Up Short

Tri County Area extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 30 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They came up short against the Grant Tigers, falling 16-6. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent loss being a 26-6 defeat back in April.

As for Grant, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-6. Considering they have won 12 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Grant's part, Addison Herrmann made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. That's the most strikeouts Herrmann has posted over her last ten games. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Grant got a massive performance out of Alexa Obenauf, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases Obenauf has posted over her last nine contests. Another player making a difference was Payton Shoemaker, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

While Tri County Area had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
