Soccer Game Preview: Christopher vs. Live Oak

The Christopher Cougars will challenge the Live Oak Acorns at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Christopher is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3 goals per game this season.

Christopher is headed into the match having not lost since December 19 and will look to keep things rolling. They walked away with a 4-2 victory over Ann Sobrato on Tuesday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Christopher's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 386th, while Ann Sobrato are ranked 901st).

Avery Montejano and Raul Ramos scored all four of Christopher's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 26 goals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Live Oak, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They came out on top against Leland by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.

Live Oak used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Leland. Zuriel Alonzo played for 80 minutes having averaged 60 this season. Justin Wheat made the most of the opportunity, scoring a goal A few more games like that and he might be seeing even more time going forward.

Christopher pushed their record up to 7-2-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored ten goals over those three contests. As for Live Oak, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-2-2.

Everything went Christopher's way against Live Oak when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Christopher made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Acorns have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
