Basketball Recap: Escambia Takes a Loss

Escambia lost against Tate on January 8th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Escambia Gators fell to the Tate Aggies 41-37.

When it comes to explaining why Escambia lost, don't look at Brianna Williams. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 30 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Demi Liu, who posted nine points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Escambia smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 32 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Tate's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amerie McGee, who had 11 points. Brelynn Morris was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Escambia has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Tate, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Both are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Escambia will head out on the road to face off against Pine Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tate, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Santa Rosa Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Rosa Christian will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Tate surely won't give up without a fight.
