Basketball Game Preview: Stanton Mustangs vs. Humphrey-Lindsay Bulldogs

Stanton and Humphrey-Lindsay are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Stanton Mustangs will host the Humphrey-Lindsay Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Stanton is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.

Last Thursday, Stanton didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Wisner-Pilger, but they still walked away with a 41-35 win.

Stanton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olivia Hupp led the charge by putting up 12 points along with eight boards and three steals. Hupp has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played. Kelby Pohlman was another key player, posting 12 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, Humphrey-Lindsay fought the good fight in their overtime game against Howells-Dodge on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Humphrey-Lindsay's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Stanton, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Stanton came out on top in a nail-biter against Humphrey-Lindsay in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, sneaking past 50-47. Does Stanton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Humphrey-Lindsay turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
