Recap: Hawthorne Cougars vs. Leuzinger Olympians
The Hawthorne Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They were dealt a 83-34 defeat at the hands of Leuzinger. Hawthorne has not had much luck with Leuzinger recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alfredo Ramirez, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerardo Quinonez, who scored nine points.
Malachi Knight was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points for Leuzinger. Darrian Henry was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Hawthorne's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for Leuzinger, they pushed their record up to 15-7 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hawthorne will take on Morningside at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Morningside has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 20. As for Leuzinger, they will be playing at home against Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Centennial will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1118th, while Leuzinger is ranked 220th).
