League recap: Alliance scores huge upset over Carrollton

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Carrollton, who took down 244th ranked Carrollton, 33-14. Kordelle Phillips threw for 324 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 21 yards in the win.

Phillips and Parrish Martin provided fans with a highlight when they connected against the Warriors. The connection was good for 78 yards, the longest such play in Northeastern Buckeye this season.

Deonte Settles was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 134 yards on 17 carries as Canton South defeated Carrollton. Teammate Josh Kenny added to the ground attack by rushing for seven yards.

Martin was the best wideout in the league this week as the Aviators beat the Warriors. Martin tallied seven receptions for 159 yards. JJ Kukura helped Alliance's passing attack out by catching five balls for 102 yards.

5-foot-8 quarterback Phillips of Alliance is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1573. He has also thrown 13 touchdowns. On the ground, the Wildcats' Settles has rushed for 728 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Noah Mallen. The Canton South star has 51 catches for 870 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when Canton South takes on Carrollton. Moe Daniska's team is currently in second, while the Warriors are in third.

Mike Schott's team moved up to 387 from 497 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Aviators climbed the ranks as a result of topping Carrollton 33-14.
