Baseball Recap: Octorara Area Takes a Loss

Octorara Area had lost four straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 5-7 to make it five. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kennard-Dale Rams. If the Braves were looking for revenge after losing 8-0 to the Rams when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Octorara Area saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Marsh, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. The Braves are 2-1 when Marsh posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-6 otherwise.

As for Kennard-Dale, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games.

On Kennard-Dale's side, Jake Harris made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Harris has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base. That run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Noah Hoffer was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. Another player making a difference was Micah Smith, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Octorara Area will face off against Donegal at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Kennard-Dale, they will venture away from home to square off against Middletown at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
