Basketball Recap: Middle Park Skates Past Platte Canyon with Ease

There's no place like home for Middle Park, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They claimed a resounding 83-26 win over the Platte Canyon Huskies. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 25 points or more this season.

Middle Park had a senior duo take command as Weston Wiedel went 8 for 12 en route to 22 points in addition to eight steals and five assists and Joey Gagnon went 7 of 12 on his way to 22 points and six steals. Gagnon's afternoon made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Jacob Trail was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 12 points and three steals.

Middle Park is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Platte Canyon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Middle Park will face off against Englewood at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Middle Park's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Platte Canyon, they will challenge Sheridan at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
