Softball Recap: Caldwell's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Middleton, Caldwell was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Payette Pirates. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Khloe Arce and Rylie Felton made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Arce struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Felton didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Arce a new career-high. At bat, Arce scored a run while going 2-for-5, while Felton scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Kloe Fogle and Payton Garcia did most of the damage at the plate: Fogle went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Garcia went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Garcia has posted since back in March. Makayla Curtis was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Caldwell's victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Payette, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caldwell will take on Boise at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Payette, they will face off against Homedale at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
