Western Albemarle is 10-0 against Monticello since January of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Western Albemarle Warriors will host the Monticello Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Monticello will be up against a hot Western Albemarle squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Western Albemarle claimed a resounding 65-35 victory over Orange County. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Fighting Hornets are ranked 174th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monticello). They blew past Louisa County, posting a 66-37 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Western Albemarle has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Monticello, they now have a winning record of 11-10.

Western Albemarle was able to grind out a solid win over Monticello when the teams last played on Saturday, winning 56-44. Will Western Albemarle repeat their success, or does Monticello have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
