Basketball Recap: Mt. Clemens Takes a Loss

Mt. Clemens was the 35-30 winner over Summit Academy North when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mt. Clemens Battling Bathers had to suffer through a 70-30 loss at the hands of Summit Academy North. The Battling Bathers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-12.

When it comes to explaining why Mt. Clemens lost on Friday, don't look at Leah Williams. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. Williams has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Jacqueline Barrientos was another key player, putting up nine points.

This is the second loss in a row for Mt. Clemens and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Summit Academy North, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-2.

Mt. Clemens will square off against Hamtramck at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Summit Academy North, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Michigan Collegiate at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
