Volleyball Recap: Clemens Buffaloes vs. Johnson Jaguars
Clemens lost against Johnson back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Buffaloes took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jaguars. While the Buffaloes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Jaguars 25-19 in the first set.
Clemens started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-19, 25-13, 25-19.
McKenna Gobin paced Clemens' offense, picking up 15 kills. Gobin got some help from Claire Untereiner and her 15 assists. Keaton Wilkiewicz controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Johnson was led to victory by Rileigh Butler and Jenna Tello. Butler had 17 digs and two aces, while Tello had 19 digs and three assists. Those 19 digs gave Tello a new career-high.
Clemens has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-18 record this season. As for Johnson, they pushed their record up to 27-7 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.
Coincidentally, Clemens and Johnson will both be playing East Central the next time they take the court. The Jaguars will head out to face the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Buffaloes will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
