Basketball Recap: East Newton Comes Up Short

After flying high against Exeter last Tuesday, East Newton came back down to earth. The East Newton Patriots fell 51-44 to the New Heights Christian Academy Cougars on Saturday. The Patriots were probably out for revenge after losing 46-37 to them when the teams met back in December of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

New Heights Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jadon Smith led the charge by putting up 14 points and six boards. Brodrick Burns was another key player, posting eight points and three steals.

East Newton's record is now 1-1. As for New Heights Christian Academy, their record now sits at 2-3.

East Newton will face off against Southwest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New Heights Christian Academy has already played their next game, a 68-43 victory against Liberal on the 9th.
