Softball Recap: Rancho Cucamonga Find Success

Rancho Cucamonga took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Upland, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cougars narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Highlanders 16-15. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Joss Brandl looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.

At the plate, Lizzy Brown was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jemma Wright, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Rancho Cucamonga's win bumped their record up to 10-15. As for Upland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-10.

Coincidentally, Rancho Cucamonga and Upland will both be playing Los Osos the next time they take the field. The Cougars will host the Grizzlies at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, while the Highlanders will head out to face them at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
