Baseball Recap: Wekiva Takes a Loss

Wekiva was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ocoee Knights. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Wekiva saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Schwartz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Caden Lopez was another, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Wekiva's loss dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Ocoee, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-11.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Knights beat Wekiva by a score of 6-2 on Thursday.
