Basketball Recap: Wilkinson County Comes Up Short

Wilkinson County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a hard 63-48 fall against the West Lincoln Bears. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Wilkinson County lost, don't look at JaNorris Anthony. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 11 on his way to 14 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Javien Ephion, who posted eight points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Wilkinson County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Wilkinson County's loss dropped their record down to 0-11. As for West Lincoln, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilkinson County will face off against Loyd Star at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West Lincoln, they will take on Mississippi School for the Deaf at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Considering Mississippi School for the Deaf has lost six straight at home and West Lincoln four straight on the road , this one might come down to who's more desperate to change their momentum.
