After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin, Hoopeston was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the St. Thomas More Sabers as they made off with a 15-5 win. Considering the Cornjerkers have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Maddie Barnes made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Hoopeston let Addyson Kelnhofer and Viviana Zamarripa run wild. Kelnhofer went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run, while Zamarripa got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those five RBI gave Kelnhofer a new career-high. Macy Warner was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Hoopeston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Hoopeston's victory bumped their record up to 7-10. As for St. Thomas More, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-13.
