Soccer Game Preview: Cornerstone Charter vs. Highland Tech

The Cornerstone Charter Cardinals will face off against the Highland Tech Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Cornerstone Charter is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They blew past Corvian Community 6-1. Winning may never get old, but Cornerstone Charter sure is getting used to it with their tenth in a row.

They hit Corvian Community with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Amber Tickerhoff (2), Maloree Walthaw (2), Aubrey Kane, and Ava Seitz.

Meanwhile, Highland Tech waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their defense stepped up to hand the Braves a 9-0 shutout. Given Highland Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Cherokee are ranked 446th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cornerstone Charter pushed their record up to 21-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those six matchups. As for Highland Tech, their win bumped their record up to 16-5-1.
