Baseball Recap: Del Norte Continues Road Dominance on Wednesday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against McKinleyville, Del Norte was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Eureka Loggers by a score of 6-2. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 4-3 victory back in April.

Preston Daniels made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Williams, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Anthony Cardenas, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and one run.

Del Norte pushed their record up to 16-6-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Eureka, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-10.

As of now, neither Del Norte nor the Loggers have any future games scheduled.
