Softball Recap: Pope County Takes a Loss

Pope County extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 5-12 in the process. They lost 19-5 to the Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Fighting Cardinals. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jaydan Holmes made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

As for Norris City-Omaha-Enfield, they pushed their record up to 9-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Norris City-Omaha-Enfield's side, Finlee Hite was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI Hite has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Riley Taylor, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pope County beat Norris City-Omaha-Enfield by a score of 6-4 later that day.
