Softball Recap: Haddon Township Triumphs

Haddon Township won the last time they faced Palmyra and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Hawks came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 11-8. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by exactly three runs.

Jordan Strauss made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Mikayla Callahan was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julie Broderick, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Haddon Township kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Haddon Township and bumps their season record up to 8-4-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Palmyra, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Haddon Township will face off against Haddon Heights at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Garnets will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Hawks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Palmyra, they will square off against Medford Tech at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
