Softball Recap: Rogers Heritage Comes Up Short

Rogers Heritage had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 6-6 to make it four. They lost 11-1 to the Fayetteville Purple Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the War Eagles have suffered since May 8, 2025.

As for Fayetteville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-8. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by eight runs or more this season.

For Fayetteville's part, Emma Hampton was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Hampton has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Marley Holthoff was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2025. Elisabeth Hampton was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Rogers Heritage will look to defend their home field on Friday against Conway at 3:30 p.m. The Wampus Cats' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the War Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fayetteville, they will face off against Springdale at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
