Baseball Recap: Suffield Academy Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Canterbury School

Suffield Academy faced Canterbury School in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Tigers took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Saints. The contest marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Suffield Academy got a good showing from Caiden Pena, who tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, Pena didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Benny White made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Suffield Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7. As for Canterbury School, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3.

While Suffield Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
