Big Walnut was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They put the hurt on the Groveport-Madison Cruisers with a sharp 36-10 win. Given the Golden Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Cruisers are ranked 119th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory made it two in a row for Big Walnut and bumps their season record up to 2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 10 points in those games. As for Groveport-Madison, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Big Walnut and Groveport-Madison will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Golden Eagles will face off against rival Hayes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Groveport-Madison is set to take on their familiar foe Newark at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
