Basketball Recap: Charleston Catholic Comes Up Short

Charleston Catholic lost against Huntington back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Charleston Catholic Irish fell 53-42 to the Huntington Highlanders. The Irish have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Huntington got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Pierson Dejneka out in front who posted 11 points and eight boards. Those eight rebounds gave Dejneka a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avonte Crawford, who shot 67% from the field to rack up 12 points.

Charleston Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Huntington, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-12 record this season.

Charleston Catholic has already played their next contest (against Poca), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Huntington, they will welcome Hurricane at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hurricane's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games.
