Basketball Recap: Polytechnic Takes a Loss

If Polytechnic was feeling good fresh off their 84-41 takedown of San Bernardino on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers took a 43-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sierra Vista Dons on Thursday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2024.

Sierra Vista's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Peter Albir, who posted ten points along with six rebounds and five steals. What's more, Albir posted two blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Tevita Ngaluola was another key player, putting up six points and 13 boards.

Polytechnic's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Sierra Vista, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Polytechnic will challenge Downey at 6:10 p.m. on Monday. As for Sierra Vista, they will take on Pioneer in a tournament on Saturday. The Dons will need to watch out since the Titans have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
