Monsignor Farrell hasn't had much luck against Iona Prep recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the Gaels at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Monsignor Farrell had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 28-point drubbing they dealt Fordham Prep last Friday. The Lions blew past the Rams 42-14. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Monsignor Farrell's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Bryce Moye, who threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns while completing 91.7% of his passes, and Gianni Pasqulone, who gained 141 total yards and two touchdowns. The dominant performance also gave Moye a new career-high in passer rating (170.1). 84 of Moye's passing yards were hauled in by Braxton Moye, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Monsignor Farrell's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Insalaco Michael was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.
Meanwhile, Iona Prep faced Chaminade in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Gaels were the clear victors by a 33-9 margin over the Flyers. Give the Gaels' offense some serious credit: that high-scoring performance was actually the fewest points they've scored all season.
Iona Prep had a senior duo take command as Crew Davis rushed for 137 yards and a pair of TDs and Julian Guzman rushed for 122 yards and one score on only 12 carries. Those 122 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Guzman.
Iona Prep was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 297 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Monsignor Farrell's record is now 5-1. As for Iona Prep, their record now sits at 6-0.
Friday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Kevin Gumb Jr and Davis. Gumb Jr just won't slow down this season and has run in 11 touchdowns while averaging 121.2 rushing yards per game. Davis has been a dominant force too and has run in 10 touchdowns while averaging 114.3 rushing yards per game.
Monsignor Farrell suffered a grim 35-15 defeat to Iona Prep in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
