Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .419 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Holy Name). They blew past Magnificat 16-3 on Saturday.
Reagan Vavro was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Vavro was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Holy Name let Aubrey Stephens and Bailey Garlow run wild. Stephens went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base, while Garlow went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Anna Soos was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Holy Name, their win bumped their record up to 16-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Holy Name struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down. Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
