The South Davidson Wildcats will challenge the R.J. Reynolds Demons at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. South Davidson is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
South Davidson's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Lexington as they made off with a 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won five games by 15 runs or more so far this season.

Payton Cook was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, South Davidson got a massive performance out of Kacie Gordon, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Harleigh Russell was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, R.J. Reynolds was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 19-3 to Parkland.
Carrie Martin made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Mese Allen, who scored a run and stole two bases.
South Davidson has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for R.J. Reynolds, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-15.
R.J. Reynolds' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Davidson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .374. It's a different story for R.J. Reynolds, though, as they've only averaged .158. Will they be able to contain South Davidson's hitters?
South Davidson took their win against R.J. Reynolds in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 30-2 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Demons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
