Baseball Recap: Hialeah Takes a Loss

Hialeah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 14-4 to the Miami Beach Hi-Tides. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Thoroughbreds have suffered against the Hi-Tides since April 6, 2016.

Hialeah got a good showing from Cody Gomez, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. Gomez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Joshua Giron was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That run was his first of the season.

Hialeah's record is now 4-8. As for Miami Beach, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hialeah will head out to face off against Downtown Doral at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Thoroughbreds are facing the Dolphins at the right time seeing as the Dolphins are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Miami Beach, they will square off against True North Classical Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
